Celebrations

     Here you've got some of the celebations that take place in Urgell (is one of the counties of Catalonia) during the year.



  FIRA TÀRREGA


Is a festival which takes place in Tàrrega during the second weekend in September, the capital of Urgell, and is known all around Catalonia. 
It's the international market for performing arts. During all the weekend the streets are full of people and artists making different shows for everybody; from the youngest person to the oldest one.





 PAUPATERRES

It’s a music festival in Tàrrega. It takes place the second weekend of July. Every year some groups come and play their own music all night long.





 MUSICORB

It Used to be more than one concert in different villages round a river called “Riu Corb” and this i why this festival is called like this. Nowadays these villages have made an agreement and there is only one concert.

  FESTA MAJOR

Every city and village has its own “Festa Major”. Every village celebrates it twice a year and it changes depending on the place and the people who live in it. For example, if there are lots of young people there will be some concerts and if most of the population is grown up there will be traditional dances and mass. 

Are also carried out activities such as go up the tower or visit the castle

 BACUS


Is a celebration dedicated to wine. The people from the village get dressed as people used to do, and make wine by squishing grapes. 
All the weekend is full of activities related to wine for anyone who wants to participate in the celebration

  Acampada Jove


Is one of the most known concerts around Catalonia where lots of catalan groups play their last songs. It lasts 3 days; it is during the summer and in a small village call Montblanc.





Patum de Berga

It’s a festival set in Berga during Corpus Christi. It consists of a series of dances by townspeople dressed as mystical and symbolical figures, and accompanied either by the rhythm of a drum, whose sound gives the festival its name. 

The celebration is also full of pyrotechnics.
